So the reason i was so interested in having internet addiction as our group topic, is my personal addiction to my iPhone. Before my iPhone I was never on my laptop, never knew where my phone was half the time, and only accessed the web if I absolutely had to, and certainly never checked my facebook page. Now that I have this phone my life has changed completely... My phone is constantly in my hands, I check facebook numerous times a day, manage a school, personal, and work email through my phone, play multiple online games, skype overseas friends, get my daily news from the Huffington Post app, and oh did I mention online games???? So my question to the class and my fellow teamates....who else is addicted to their smartphones??
Here is a link from my favorite news app about iPhone addiction

And if I were to have participated in this Stanford study... I would have given myself a 4, almost fully addicted. Anyone else feel this way?
I definitely agree with you because my iphone is always glued to my hands! I am constantly always checking my facebook and my email. I find myself doing it also at work every chance I get a free second. It has absolutely became addicting, I guess because it has everything right at your fingertips.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how many people there are out there like yourself. Looking around campus and at my friends, they are buried in their phones. You can't get them to look away. Everything has a different sound for a text, email, facebook notification, etc. They're always talking about this "cool new app." I don't have a smartphone (yet), but sometimes the convenience factor is the biggest plus. I can't tell you how many times I wished I had a phone with internet access when I want to look up information, get an email, or (yes) check my facebook. It's safe to say you're not alone in being attached to your phone because it keeps you attached to everything else in the world.
ReplyDeleteI am constantly pulling my iPhone out for no reason. Mainly to check email, but sometimes just to check random useless facts.
ReplyDeletekmedina... I agree. No reason at all. Out of boredom maily. I often wonder what I did to pass the time before my iPhone. Probably learned a lot more :)~
ReplyDeletemredfer...I know how you feel. I've had lunches with friends where neither one of us even barely speaks bc we have our heads in our phones. Or here's one, have you ever been walking and playing on your phone and walked right into someone? embarrassing! but i just gotta have that instant information...
ReplyDeletelindsay monaco.... its a blessing and a curse. Before the iPhone I just always had really cheap flip phones, very basic models because I always broke or lost them. I never cared where the phone was or if it was safe, and definately never cared who was contacting me. Now everything has changed. Its a blessing and a cursed. I love checking the news and weather, and playing games when I'm bored. So if you're a simple gal at heart, think long and hard about getting a smartphone. Life will change. Sometimes I wish I could just go back... but thats not gonna happen !
ReplyDeleteI believe I am addiction to my iphone along with you. I treat it as if it was my child. lol Before I leave my house everything morning my iphone is on my checklist. I really believe I will be slightly depressed without it. :)
